Jamie’s Smiles in Summary

Jameson Bates’ short 19 month life inspired his family to establish an endowment fund to award yearly two yearly grants to special needs children’s programs.

“Jamie’s Smiles” is the name of the tax deductible fund established through the Shelby Community Foundation as his legacy.  The original memorial fund was created in the Spring of 2006 and in mid 2007 the endowment fund was finalized.  As of August 2008, we have a total cash on hand of over $54,400 and have given away over $14,000 in grants and donations to assist special needs children’s programs.  It is our goal to raise a cash on hand of $120,000 to make the endowment fund perpetual and permanent.  Beginning in 2008, two yearly $1,000 grants are being distributed to help special needs children’s programs.
